I found this beast on the curb this morning. Luckily it was right by school, because I had to run and grab some long boards out of my wood room to load it into my truck.

It’s a 32" wide 2-stage Craftsman, with a 10hp Techumseh engine, electric start, and freaking headlights! It’s overkill to the extreme!

The gas tank is dry, it has oil, it turns over, and it has compression. I’m going to have my buddy who is a small engine guru give it a once over for me.

Man that thing is awesome!

Lucky. Looks like the one I used growing up. Stock sheer pins.

Yeah, very lucky score. It had a little pile of scrap aluminum on top of it. I really don’t need a blower this big, but it was morally imperative that I not let this go to the scrap yard.

I need to get something like this. We had a couple of heavy falls last winter

We had almost no snow last year. I’ve got a single stage 2-stroke Toro, I only used it once last year. It would’ve been twice, but the pull cord broke. I had to hand shovel the one 5" snow we got all year (luckily it was light snow). I fixed the pull cord over Christmas break, and never used the blower again. We’re due for a bad winter though. We’ve had two really light ones in a row, but a few years ago we had 82" or something like that.

That is a BEAST! Great score.

And yeah two stage is good. Anything less is silly here.

I actually really like my single stage Toro. But when we get bombed, it really struggles. After the last two super mild winters we’ve had, I feel like we’re due to get hammered this year.

Surprised someone threw it out. Looks like the only time it hasn’t been a garage or shed is when it was being used.

Yeah I just have a 2 stage. Barely used it last winter, but like you said, when we get bombed it’s very useful.

It’s an older gentleman who has slowly been cleaning out and his garage. I suspect he’s not up to man-handling it anymore. I’ve scored some other good stuff there, but this is by far the best.

Score, I used one like it living at the in laws in PG.. It was super fun getting out at 11pm in the snow when conditions were perfect. Like HFP said buy some shear pins, and get a stick to unclog the chute. And don’t run over the extension cords for the cars.. guess how I know..

Q: does that have more torque/hp than the metro? Great find i dont miss needing a snow blower but I do miss having a snow blower:)

Yeah, the shear pins is a good call. I’ve got plenty of sticks for clearing the chute. My father-in-law learned about running over extension cords the hard way. That was a mess!

Hahahaha! The Metro has more HP ... possibly less torque.

I already have a single stage Toro, which I love (and was also garbage picked). But yeah, they get a little ... lost ... when the big stuff flies.

Yeah, I was thinking that I used it 2 or 3 times at most - and all early in the winter.

So, we’re probably overdue to get hit hard. Get that baby running and you’ll be set!

I’ve seen the guy before, and scored stuff off his curb a couple times in the past. It’s an older dude, I doubt he could get it in a truck, even if he had one.

Thanks to climate change where I currently live doesn’t get enough snow to really justify a blower, unless you are supremely lazy. Too bad that wasn’t the case when I was little and had to shovel snow.
